THE CHATEAU PETIT SONNAILLER |
The Château Petit Sonnailler is situated in the heart of Provence near Aurons, a small typical Provence village which dates from the 10th century. |
The Estate boasts a magnificent view of the Lubéron and Alpilles mountains. It is located in the centre of a large forested area, the lungs of the Salon-de-Provence region. |
HISTORY The Château Petit Sonnailler dates from the 10th century with the tower added later in the 12th century. It is located along an ancient salt route , used by trades transporting salt from salt mills in the midi to the Central regions of France. |
During this period, the Château was used as a toll-house. The Château was the central point of a huge estate, covered by forest, crops and vines. The current owners are gradually restoring the site to its former condition and charm. | ||
THE VINEYARD The 45-hectare vineyard is
located on chalky terrain and is farmed in the traditional way with several
ploughings throughout the seasons. |
At the Château Petit Sonnailler, the wine-making process is traditional, but uses the latest techniques for handling and pressing the grapes and controlling the temperature. The age of the vineyard, combined with expert mixing of the best varieties of grape in a wine cellar using top quality methods, ensures that we can offer wines that are sought after by connaisseurs and which are a feather-in-the-cap of the Côteaux d'Aix-en-Provence region. |
